Skin allergies is form as an outcome of you body’s immune system reacting to an allergen that disagrees with it. Your skin can react to many different kinds of elements and form an allergy. These may include allergy to food, cold weather, an insect bites and etc.

Skin allergies usually expose in the form of hives and rashes on your skin in areas such as your face, arms, legs and hands. Hives are the most common form of skin allergies. Hives are a specific type of rash that is appears red, very itchy and swollen in area of your skin that often appears in clusters, much like mosquito bites. As hives a very itchy, scratching the makes them multiply and bigger. This is because scratching them release histamine, an important element in developing hives, hence, leading more hives. Hives can appear suddenly and can last for 2 to 24 hours.

Hives can be caused by foods such as peanuts, tree nuts and shellfish (crabs, lobsters, shrimp, etc) or medications. The treatments of hives are the same regardless of the caused. Antihistamines and corticosteroids are often used to block the immune activity that causes hives.
